Copper Chip Vertical Briquette Machine Release Time:2025-12-25

Core Concepts

This is a vertically designed hydraulic briquetting machine specifically designed to directly cold-press loose, bulky, and difficult-to-transport and smelt copper shavings into high-density cylindrical or rectangular blocks (briquettes) at room temperature under high pressure. This significantly increases material density, reduces transportation and storage costs, and improves the performance of subsequent smelting processes.

Main Workflow

Feeding: Copper shavings are manually or via conveyor belt poured into the machine's hopper.

Measuring: A feeding mechanism (such as a hydraulic pusher cylinder) below the hopper pushes a measured amount of copper shavings into the central mold cavity (mold box).

Pre-compression: The upper pressure head moves downward, initially compressing the loose shavings and expelling some air.

Main Compression: The main hydraulic cylinder drives the upper pressure head to apply enormous pressure (typically ranging from 200 to 630 tons or even higher), compressing the copper shavings into a dense block within the mold cavity.

Pressure Holding: The pressure is maintained for a short time to allow the block to solidify and reduce springback.

Demolding: The upper pressure head rises, and the lower ejector cylinder (or the mold moves laterally) ejects the formed brass block from the mold cavity.

Discharge: The compressed block falls onto the discharge chute or conveyor, completing one cycle.

Core Features of the Equipment (Vertical Design)

Compared to horizontal briquetting machines, vertical designs typically offer the following advantages:

Smaller Footprint: While the machine is taller, it saves on floor space.

Easy Manual Feeding: The hopper opens upwards, making it suitable for manual operation in small to medium-sized applications.

Compact Structure: The hydraulic cylinders and mold system are vertically arranged, and gravity facilitates demolding.

Easy Maintenance: Key hydraulic and electrical components are easily accessible.

Key Advantages

Volume Reduction: copper shavings can be compressed to 1/3 to 1/6 of their original volume, significantly reducing storage and transportation costs.

Reduced Oxidation Loss: The high density and small surface area of the briquettes significantly reduce oxidation loss during storage and transportation.

Improved Smelting Efficiency:

Briquette loading into the furnace is easier and faster.

Less slag during smelting, increasing metal recovery (copper yield).

More uniform heating within the furnace, reducing energy consumption.

Environmental and Safety Benefits: Prevents shavings from scattering, reducing dust and creating a cleaner and safer working environment. Briquettes can be sold directly as a commodity.

Economic Value: Briquetted brass typically commands a higher price than loose shavings.

Equipment Selection Considerations

If you need to purchase or evaluate a vertical copper shavings briquetting machine, you should pay attention to the following points:

Forming Pressure (tons): Selected based on processing capacity (tons/day) and type of copper shavings (e.g., brittle shavings, long coiled shavings). Common pressures are 315 tons, 400 tons, and 500 tons.

Block Size and Weight: Diameter/side length and weight of the formed blocks (typically ranging from a few kilograms to over twenty kilograms).

Production Efficiency (Cycle Time): The time from feeding to discharging in one cycle determines the hourly output.

Automation Level: Optional equipment includes automatic feeders, chain conveyors, and automatic strapping machines to form a production line.

Hydraulic and Electrical Systems: Brand and quality determine equipment stability, energy consumption, and noise levels.

Die Material and Hardness: High-strength die steel with heat treatment must be used to withstand the high-intensity wear and repeated pressure of brass shavings.

Typical Application Scenarios

Copper Processing Enterprises: On-site processing of brass shavings generated by lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining centers.

Non-ferrous Metal Foundries: Pre-processing of brass shavings collected internally or purchased from external sources.

Professional Metal Recycling Companies: Processing and adding value to various types of scattered brass shavings collected from external sources.

Summary

The vertical copper shavings briquetting machine is a powerful tool for transforming waste into high-standard recyclable raw materials. Through physical compression, it solves a series of problems in brass shavings recycling and disposal, achieving the goals of turning waste into treasure, energy conservation and emission reduction, and cost reduction and efficiency improvement. It is an indispensable piece of equipment in the modern metal recycling industry.
