What is a Forward Out Baler?

It's a horizontal scrap metal baler. The "Forward Out" refers to the direction in which the finished bale (or "biscuit") is ejected. After the compression cycle is complete, the main compression platen moves further forward to push the dense bale out of the chamber through the front door and onto a waiting conveyor, truck bed, or the floor.

This contrasts with an "Up Stroke" or "Down Stroke" baler where the bale is ejected vertically, or a "Side Eject" baler.


How It Works (The Operating Cycle):

Loading (Charging): The large feed box (hopper) at the top is filled with loose scrap metal (e.g., sheet metal, turnings, wire, cans, appliances, light iron).

Pre-compression (Optional but common): A pre-compression lid may press down to flatten the material and allow for a larger initial charge.

Main Compression: The massive main hydraulic ram pushes a platen horizontally into the compression chamber, squeezing the scrap with extreme force (typically from 100 to over 1,000 tons).

Bale Ejection ("Forward Out"): Once the bale reaches its preset density and size, the front door opens. Instead of retracting, the main ram continues its forward stroke, pushing the finished bale straight out of the chamber.

Reset & Repeat: The ram retracts, the front door closes, and the machine is ready for the next cycle.
