What It Is

This is a machine designed to compress loose, often oily, metal chips, turnings, and borings (from machining operations like milling, turning, drilling) into dense, dry, solid blocks called "briquettes" or "pucks."

Heavy-Duty: Built for continuous industrial use, handling large volumes with high pressure (typically 200 to 500+ tons of force). Constructed from robust materials to withstand harsh environments.

Automatic: Features a programmable logic controller (PLC) for a fully automated cycle: feed, compression, ejection, and reset. May include auto-loading systems.

Hydraulic: Uses a high-pressure hydraulic system (pump, cylinders, valves) to generate the immense, controllable force needed to compact the metal.

Scrap Metal Chip: Its primary feedstock is low-density metallic waste from machining processes, often mixed with cutting oils or coolants.

Briquetting: The core process of densification into a compact, manageable shape.


How It Works (The Process)

Collection & Feeding: Metal chips are conveyed (often by a drag conveyor or auger) from collection points (like hoppers under machine tools) into the main compression chamber of the briquetting machine.

Compression Chamber Filling: A pre-measured volume of chips is fed into the chamber.

The Main Squeeze: The hydraulic ram advances with extreme force, compressing the chips. This force:

Densifies: Reduces volume by up to 90% (e.g., from a loose pile to a solid 10-12 inch diameter puck).

Extracts Liquids: Squeezes out up to 95% of the trapped cutting oils or coolants, which are collected for recycling or disposal.
